Caret^ House

A new home for a family on their existing lot. This residence in West Austin navigates a narrow, sloping property bounded by protected trees, and existing neighboring structures. The design minimizes the invasion of privacy and maximizes access to daylight and outdoor spaces.

Two wrappers, made of standing seam metal and tongue-and-groove wood, create the overall forms for the house and the tandem carport. Usable outside areas are increased by making the carport roof an elevated deck with integral planter boxes - an excellent place to enjoy the shade from the adjacent trees.
